How To Grow Artichoke From Seed: Using seedling modules or small pots, sow 1 seed in each cell/pot. Cover lightly with compost and keep them damp. Keep at room temperature. Germination can take 2 weeks.
After the seedlings have established, transplant out to the garden when all risk of frost has passed. Artichoke prefers a position that receives full sun. It also needs consistent watering.
Artichokes started indoors in Spring should produce flowers in Autumn of the first year, but it could be the following summer that it flowers for the first time.
Artichoke is also eaten as a vegetable. If growing it for this reason, harvest the buds before the flower petals start to open.
