Description: Safflower has prickly leaves, and it closely resembles a Scottish Thistle. It produces beautiful flowers that change in colour from yellow, to orange, to red. It makes a lovely cut flower.

How To Grow Safflower From Seed: Safflower does best when it is sowed directly in the garden. Sow safflower seeds directly where they are to grow from April to May. Prepare the soil by breaking it up and making it fine. Cover the seeds lightly with soil, and water.
Alternatively, start the seeds indoors in 10cm pots and transplant to its final spot in the garden when it becomes established.
The flowers will start to bloom roughly 12 weeks after planting. The flowers change in colour from yellow, to orange, to red. It makes a nice cut flower.
