How To Grow San Marzano Tomatoes From Seed: San Marzano Tomato seeds are best started indoors in early spring. Sow seeds in small pots or seedling modules filled with seed compost. Place two seeds per pot or cell, and thin out to leave the strongest seedling once established.
Once seedlings are about 8 cm tall, transplant them into larger pots or directly into the garden after all risk of frost has passed. If growing outdoors, choose a sunny, sheltered spot. For the best results, grow them in a greenhouse or polytunnel for the heat they thrive on.
San Marzano tomatoes are indeterminate, so the plants will need staking or support to grow tall and bear fruit. Prune side shoots regularly to encourage vertical growth and a healthier harvest.
