How To Grow Black-eyed Susan From Seed: Black-eyed Susan seeds can be started indoors from March. Using seedling modules or small pots, sow 2 seeds in each cell/pot. Barely cover the seeds, as they need light to germinate. Germination should take 2 to 3 weeks. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest one in each cell/pot. When the seedlings outgrow the seed starting module or small pots, transplant them into larger pots. Transplant out to the garden when frost risk has passed.
Alternatively, sow directly outside when the risk of frost has passed. Make sure the area is kept moist throughout germination and early growing stage.
Black-eyed Susan makes a great cut flower. Cut the flowers regularly, or remove the dead heads to keep the plant producing flowers for a longer period.
