How to Grow Ruby Giant Purple Crocus Bulbs in Ireland

Plant Crocus ‘Ruby Giant’ bulbs in autumn for a colourful display in late February to March, often among the earliest blooms of the year. This botanical crocus is ideal for naturalising and thrives in Ireland’s cool, damp spring.

  • Planting Depth: 7–10 cm deep

  • Spacing: 5–7 cm apart

  • Soil: Well-drained soil – tolerates a range of types, including grassy areas

  • Sunlight: Full sun to light shade

  • Blooming Time: Late February to March

  • Height: 10–12 cm

  • Growing Tip: Excellent for planting in drifts in lawns, gravel areas, or at the front of flower beds. Leave foliage to die back naturally after flowering to nourish the bulb for future years.
