How to Grow Hyacinth Bulbs in Ireland

Plant mixed Hyacinth bulbs in autumn for a vibrant and fragrant display in spring. These bulbs thrive in Ireland’s spring climate and are excellent for pollinators emerging in early spring.

  • Planting Depth: 10–15 cm deep

  • Spacing: 10 cm apart

  • Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil

  • Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade

  • Blooming Time: February to March

  • Height: 25 cm

  • Growing Tip: Ideal for planting in bold groups in borders or containers. For indoor use, chill bulbs at under 10°C in a dark place for 10–12 weeks before moving into warmth and light. Handle bulbs with gloves to avoid skin irritation.

Mixed Hyacinths are a perfect fit for Irish gardens, combining strong perfume, vivid colour, and early-season nectar for bees in one easy-to-grow package.
