200 Organic Lovage Seeds [approx]
Name: Lovage
Latin Name: Levisticum officinale
Description: Lovage is a member of the Apiaceae family. It tastes a little like celery and looks this way too. Another common name for it is Mountain Celery. The stems, leaves and seeds can all be eaten. Lovage can do as well in partial shade as in full sun.
Seed Origin: Netherlands
Sowing: February to June
Harvesting: July to October
How To Grow Lovage From Seed: Lovage can be started indoors 6 to 8 weeks before the last frost. Using a seedling module or small pots, sow a pinch of seed in each cell/pot. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest seedling.
Plant out at a spacing of 60cm when the risk of frost has passed. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors from April onwards.
The leaves of Lovage can be ready to be harvested in as little as 8 weeks. Young leaves will have the best flavour. Lovage is a hardy perennial, it will die back when frost comes, and come again the following year.
Lovage seeds can also be sown directly outdoors in Autumn, where the plants are to grow.
