How to Grow Grape Hyacinth Bulbs in Ireland

Plant Muscari armeniacum bulbs in autumn for a colourful spring display. These hardy, low-maintenance bulbs thrive in Irish gardens and are excellent for naturalising in lawns, under trees, or in flower beds.

  • Planting Depth: 7–10 cm deep

  • Spacing: 5–8 cm apart

  • Soil: Well-drained soil; tolerates a wide range of conditions

  • Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade

  • Blooming Time: March to April

  • Height: 10–20 cm

  • Growing Tip: Plant in drifts or clusters for the best effect. Once established, they multiply easily and can be left in place to naturalise. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering.

Muscari armeniacum is highly attractive to bees, providing early nectar and pollen during the critical early spring season.
