How To Grow Runner Bean From Seed: Runner Bean Lady Di can be started indoors from late April, or sown direct from May onwards. To start indoors, use seedling modules or small pots, and sow 1 seed in each cell/pot.
Transplant out to the garden when frost risk has passed, giving each plant 15cm of space. Alternatively, sow directly outside in May when the risk of frost has passed. Sow 2 seeds every 15cm, and thin to leave the strongest when the seedlings establish.
This runner bean can grow to be over 2 metres in height. It will need support from trellis, canes, strings or another alternative. It is best to have this in place, before planting in the garden. Regular picking keeps it producing more beans.
Seed count is approximate.
