How To Grow Purple Kohlrabi From Seed: Sow Kohlrabi ‘Delikatess Blue’ seeds outdoors from April to June in a sunny, fertile, well-drained bed. Sow thinly, about 1cm deep in rows 30cm apart. Germination takes 7–14 days. Thin seedlings to 30cm apart once established to allow bulbs to form. 

For an earlier crop, sow indoors from March and transplant when seedlings are 5–7cm tall. 

Keep soil consistently moist to prevent woody or split bulbs, and weed regularly to reduce competition. Harvest when bulbs reach 7–10cm in diameter, usually 8–10 weeks from sowing. 

Bulbs left too long can become tough, so pick promptly for the best texture and flavour. Suitable for both summer use and autumn storage."
