1000ml Sprouting Jar With Food Safe Straining Lid

I thought I'd try this sprouting jar after having poor results with small seeds like Broccoli and Rocket with my own home made sprouting jar which had been fine for sprouting large seeds like green lentils.
I first tried the new jar with broccoli seeds with good results, partly due to the superior two sized draining holes. However when I came to try sprouting the rocket seeds I had similar poor results. But this is mainly due to the nature of sprouting rocket seeds which create a disturbing slime which encourages mould! It seems these seeds are supposed to be better sown in potting compost and then cut to eat when they are tall enough.
So apart from that one failure with rocket seeds, which it turns out are known for this problem, this jar is ideal for sprouting most seeds partly due to it's ease of use for rinsing and draining the seeds.

I had not considered buying a sprouting jar before seeing these. They are just the right size for growing a useful amount (but not too much) of sprouting seeds. They are also really good at draining the water out, by tilting, and the draining cap is very well designed and handy for that. I have only one small problem with them and that is that the jars are a little awkward to handle when trying to fill them with water for rinsing the seeds. I just feel concerned that I will drop the jar in the sink.

I love sprouts and loved the idea of growing my own so I ordered the jar. It is a very study jar, easy to manipulate and big enough to have sprouting available for a few days. Highly recommend!
