How to Grow Non Scripta Buebell Bulbs in Ireland

Plant non-scripta bluebell bulbs in autumn in a shady or woodland-style area with moist, well-drained soil. These native Irish bluebells are perfect for naturalising and thrive in cool, damp conditions typical of Irish gardens.

  • Planting Depth: 10cm deep

  • Spacing: 7–10 cm apart

  • Soil: Moist but well-drained, rich in organic matter

  • Sunlight: Partial shade to full shade

  • Blooming Time: April to May

  • Height: 25cm

  • Growing Tip: Avoid disturbing once planted as bluebells take time to establish and spread best when left undisturbed. Ideal for planting in shaded borders, under hedgerows, or beneath deciduous trees.

Hyacinthoides non-scripta is one of the best spring bulbs for bees, offering an early and reliable source of nectar and pollen, while supporting biodiversity and native Irish wildflower conservation. This variety is also commonly know as Native Bluebell, English Bluebell or Wild Hyacinth.
