Name: Anise
Latin Name: Pimpinella anisum
Description: Anise is an annual herb with feathery leaves and white flowers that bloom in summer. Anise, which is also known as Aniseed, is usually grown for its small brown seeds that have a strong liquorice flavour. It’s leaves can also be used and have a milder liquorice flavour.
Seed Origin: Netherlands
Sowing: April to June
Harvesting: July to September
How To Grow Anise From Seed: Sow a pinch of Anise seeds in either a deep pot or a sunny spot directly in the garden. Anise does not like being transplanted. Leave a space of 30cm between each pinch of seeds. Thin out the seedlings when they establish, and leave the strongest plant in place. Anise will grow between 45cm to 90cm in height.
