It is also regularly called a Mouse Melon.
Seed Origin: France
Sowing: February to May
Harvesting: July to October
How To Grow Cucamelons From Seed: Cucamelon seeds can be started indoors under protection from March onwards. Using a seedling module, or small pots, sow 1 seed in each cell/pot. Cucamelon seeds need heat to germinate, it is best if the soil the seeds are in can be kept at 20°C or above. If the temperature is lower, germination can take up to 4 weeks.
When the seedlings emerge and have become established, transplant them to their final spot in a greenhouse or polytunnel. Cucamelon can also be grown outdoors under no protection. If putting them outdoors, wait until the end of May/start of June to put the plants outside.
The plants will need support to grow upwards. This can be given easily by using canes or similar, which will allow their vines to cling to and climb.
Harvest the fruits when they are approx 2.5cm in size.
