Description: Wild French Marigold is a bushy plant that has bright green leaves, and flowers that are at first red when they open, but eventually turn orange. French Marigold has been known to help control nematodes, and is often planted as a companion crop in the vegetable garden.
Seed Origin: Netherlands
Sowing: March to May.
Flowering: June to September
How To Grow Wild French Marigold From Seed: Sow indoors in early spring from March onwards. Sow directly outdoors in April to May.
If starting indoors, using a seedling module or small pots, sow 2 seeds per pot/cell and cover lightly with fine soil. Germination usually takes 2 to 3 weeks. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest one in each pot/cell.
Transplant outdoors or into their final place when they are 7cm tall, leaving 35cm of space between each plant. French Marigolds flower for an extended period, meaning they are of great benefit to bees and other pollinators.
