How to Grow Delft Blue Hyacinth Bulbs in Ireland

Plant Hyacinth ‘Delft Blue’ bulbs in autumn for richly scented blooms in spring. This spring-flowering hyacinth thrives in Ireland’s climate and provides an early nectar source for bees.

  • Planting Depth: 10–15 cm deep

  • Spacing: 10 cm apart

  • Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil

  • Sunlight: Full sun to partial shade

  • Blooming Time: February to March

  • Height: 25 cm

  • Growing Tip: Ideal for borders, pots, or forcing indoors. For indoor display, chill bulbs in a dark place below 10°C for 10–12 weeks before bringing into warmth. Wear gloves when planting, as bulbs may cause skin irritation.

Hyacinth ‘Delft Blue’ is easy to grow in Irish gardens, combining iconic colour, strong fragrance, and pollinator-friendly blooms in a compact form.
