Sogo Organic Seed Compost

This organic seed compost is specially formulated to provide the perfect environment for starting seeds and cuttings. With its fine, uniform structure and low fertilisation levels, it encourages rapid and healthy germination while reducing the risk of root damage.

A carefully balanced blend of high-quality organic materials ensures excellent moisture retention and aeration, giving delicate seedlings the best start in life. The addition of sand helps maintain the fine structure, preventing compaction and promoting strong root development.

Easy to handle and work with, this fine seed compost allows for precise seed placement, making sowing hassle-free. It also contains essential plant nutrients, supporting young plants as they establish themselves before transplanting.

Ideal for use in seed trays, pots, and propagation setups, this premium organic compost for seeds creates optimal growth conditions for a wide range of vegetables, herbs, flowers, and cuttings.

Quantity

Each bag contains 5 litres of compost (Approx. 1.8kg to 2kg) which will be enough for a number of seed trays. It is a smaller bag when compared to general purpose bags of compost available in garden centres. Please see the picture where the bag is being held by a hand so you get a better idea of the size of the bag.

Packaging

The packaging it comes in is made mainly from recycled material, and the packaging itself is recyclable.

How to Use Organic Seed Compost

  1. Fill Seed Trays or Pots – Lightly fill trays, pots, or modules with organic seed compost, ensuring an even surface.
  2. Moisten the Compost – Water gently before sowing to create a damp but not soggy environment.
  3. Sow Seeds at the Right Depth – Follow the seed packet instructions for the correct planting depth. Fine seeds should be lightly pressed into the compost, while larger seeds can be covered.
  4. Cover and Maintain Moisture – Lightly sprinkle compost over the seeds if required, then mist with water to keep them moist.
  5. Provide Warmth & Light – Place trays in a bright, warm location (typically 15–20°C) to encourage germination.
  6. Transplant Seedlings – Once seedlings develop strong roots and true leaves, transplant them into larger pots or the garden.

Using high-quality organic seed compost ensures strong, healthy seedlings with the nutrients they need for optimal growth.
