Name: Cherry Tomato: Gardener’s Delight
Latin Name: Solanum lycopersicum
Description: Gardener’s Delight is one of the best-known and most reliable cherry tomato varieties, cherished by gardeners for decades. Producing long trusses of small, round red fruits, it combines sweetness with a tangy, classic tomato flavour.
Vigorous indeterminate vines crop over a long season, often right into autumn, especially under glass. Perfect for salads, lunchboxes, or eating straight from the vine, it is versatile and productive in both greenhouses and outdoors.
Not strictly an heirloom, but an open-pollinated classic introduced in Germany in the 1950s, it remains a top choice for home growers.

How To Grow Gardeners Delight Cherry Tomatoes From Seed: Gardener's Delight Tomato seeds can be sown in small pots or seedling modules, indoors in early Spring. Germination is most successful at temperatures of 20°C or above. A heat mat or heated propagator may be needed to achieve this. Plant two seeds in each pot/cell. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest one in each cell/pot.
When seedlings get to about 8cm tall, they can be planted into larger pots.
Tomatoes need heat and do best in greenhouses/polytunnels. If growing them outside, put them in a warm sunny area of the garden.
Plants will need to be supported by a stake or something similar to help the plant grow upwards and bear the fruit.
