It will provide you with fresh leaves to use throughout the summer, a must for any herb garden. It also produces a nice flower that is attractive to bees and other pollinators.
Seed Origin: France
Sowing: March to May
Harvesting: June to October
How To Grow Oregano From Seed: Using seedling modules or small pots, sow a pinch of seed in each cell/pot. Oregano seeds will take 3 to 4 weeks to germinate. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest one in each cell/pot.
When the seedlings are roughly 7-10cm tall, transplant into a large pot or out to the garden when frost risk has passed. Alternatively, sow directly outside when the risk of frost has passed.
The leaves can be harvested throughout the summer once the plant has established.
Common Oregano is a perennial herb that will grow to about 50cm in height. Cutting it back each Spring will encourage new growth in the growing year ahead.
