Description: Pierrot Poppy is a beautiful variety of poppy that produces bright red flowers with a large black spot on each petal. Its red and black spotted appearance caused to also have the nicknames Ladybug Poppy or Ladybird Poppy!
Sowing: March to May
Flowering: June to August
How To Grow Pierrot Poppy From Seed: Sow poppy seeds directly into the spot in the garden where they are to grow. Sprinkle the seeds thinly into a prepared shallow drill, and cover lightly with soil.
When the seedlings establish, thin them to leave roughly 25cm between each plant. Keep the strongest of the seedlings. The plants will grow to about 40cm to 60cm tall. Each plant will produce many flowers, each flower only lasting a few days.
Alternatively, sow the seed in large pots. Try not to transplant poppies, as they don’t take well to this.
Poppy Pierrot is also commonly known as Ladybird Poppy, or Ladybug Poppy, because of it’s red and black spotted appearance.
Seed count is approximate.
