Name: Soy Bean Edamame: Chiba Green
Latin Name: Glycine max
Description: Soy Bean Edamame ‘Chiba Green’ is a quick-growing, early variety with compact plants. Its large pods contain 2 to 3 nutty-flavoured, bark green beans, ready to harvest in 75–90 days. Enjoy freshly steamed or dried for later use, ensuring versatile and delicious meals.
Seed Origin: Netherlands
Sowing: March to June
Harvesting: June to September
How To Grow Soy Bean Edamame From Seed: For an early crop, start inside from March to May in pots/seedling modules. Sow 1 seed per pot/cell. Transplant seedlings to their final place in May when the risk of frost has passed.
Alternatively, from late May, sow directly outside in drills, leaving a spacing of 10cm between seeds, and 30cm between rows.
Harvest pods when they are plump, bright green, and the beans inside feel firm but not hard. Regular harvesting encourages further pod production.
