How To Grow Strawflowers From Seed: Start Strawflower seeds indoors in early spring, about 6 - 8 weeks before the last frost. Use seed trays or small pots filled with a light, well-draining seed compost. Gently press seeds into the soil but do not cover them completely, as strawflower seeds need light to germinate. Mist with water and place in a warm, bright location at 18 - 22°C. Germination typically takes 7 - 14 days. Keep the compost moist while the seeds are germinating.

Once seedlings are strong enough to handle and frost risk has passed, transplant them into sunny, well-drained flower beds. Space plants about 20 - 30 cm apart to allow for growth.

Alternatively, Strawflower seeds can be sown directly outdoors after the risk of frost has passed, generally in early May. Scatter seeds thinly, press them gently into the soil, and water carefully. Thin seedlings as needed. Keep the area moist while the seeds are germinating.

Water regularly but avoid overwatering, as strawflowers prefer slightly dry conditions. Deadhead spent blooms to encourage prolonged flowering.

Strawflowers thrive in sunny borders and are perfect for drying to create long-lasting floral arrangements.
