How To Grow Medium Red Sunflowers From Seed: Sow the seeds in pots, seed starting modules or evenly spaced, directly into your flower bed.

When the seedlings grow to 5-8cm tall, plant out or thin them to their eventual spacing of 30 to 45cm. Sunflowers will need to be supported by a stake or similar as they develop and grow taller. 

For earlier flowering sunflowers, sow indoors 4 to 6 weeks before the last frost. Then gradually acclimatise the plants to the outside once the risk of frost has passed. Flowers from July to September. In certain conditions, these plants can grow up to 2 metres in height.
