Name: Tomato: Black From Tula
Latin Name: Solanum lycopersicum
Description: Black from Tula is an heirloom tomato variety that originates from the town of Tula in Russia, although there is often an argument that it originally came from Ukraine. It produces very large, red to brown fruits that have a greenish shoulder.
The tomatoes have a sweet flavour, making it one of the best black tomato varieties around. It has an indeterminate growing habit. The tomatoes produced can weigh anywhere from 200g to 400g.

How To Grow Black From Tula Tomatoes From Seed: Black From Tula Tomato seeds can be sown in small pots or seedling modules, indoors in early Spring. They can be planted directly outside in pots from April onwards. Plant two seeds in each pot/cell. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest one in each cell/pot.
When seedlings get to about 8cm tall, they can be planted into larger pots.
For the best results, grow Black from Tula tomato in a greenhouse or polytunnel as tomatoes do best in warm conditions. If growing them outside, put them in a warm sunny area of the garden.
Plants will need to be supported by a stake or something similar to help the plant grow upwards and bear the fruit.
