Latin Name: Solanum lycopersicum
Description: Black Zebra is an heirloom tomato variety that was bred from the Green Zebra tomato and a black tomato variety. It is similar to the Green Zebra tomato in its size and shape. The fruits are a mahogany colour with green stripes. It has a great sweet and smoky flavour. It is an indeterminate, high yielding tomato plant, producing fruits weighing between 100g to 150g.

How To Grow Black Zebra Tomatoes From Seed: Black Zebra Tomato seeds can be sown in small pots or seedling modules, indoors in early Spring. They can be planted directly outside in pots from April onwards. Plant two seeds in each pot/cell. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest one in each cell/pot.
When seedlings get to about 8cm tall, they can be planted into larger pots.
For the best results, grow Black Zebra tomato in a greenhouse or polytunnel as this variety needs a lot of heat to thrive. If growing them outside, put them in a warm sunny area of the garden.
Plants will need to be supported by a stake or something similar to help the plant grow upwards and bear the fruit.
