Organic Wildflower Seed

Name: Wildflower Mixture: Elegance

Description: This Wildflower mix contains Phacelia, Cowherb, Coriander, Marigold, Dill, Cornflower and Cosmos. These plants will produce a variety of different colour flowers that will grow in succession from Summer to Autumn. The mix gets the name Elegance as it contains small to medium size growing flowers with fine leaves.

It will grow roughly 1 metre in height, Cosmos being the tallest growing plant. Phacelia and Cowherb will bloom first, followed by Coriander, Marigold, Dill and Cornflower. Cosmos will last longest, and produce flowers into the Autumn. Very beneficial to bees, butterflies, and other pollinators due to it’s long flowering period.

Seed Origin: Netherlands

Sowing: April to June

Flowering: June to September

Plant Height: From 60cm to 100cm

Coverage: 20g of this Wildflower seed will cover 10m2...50g of this Wildflower seed will cover 25m2

How To Grow Wild Flowers From Seed: Sow this wildflower mix directly into the area where you want it to grow. Prepare the area by loosening and breaking up the soil. Spread the seeds thinly into the prepared area, aiming to leave roughly 1-2cm between each seed. Rake in the seed, so it is covered lightly by the soil. If no rain is due, water the area.

While the seed is establishing, remove any obvious weeds that may start growing after the soil was upturned.

Phacelia and Cowherb should bloom first, followed by Coriander, Marigold, Dill and Cornflower. Cosmos will last longest, and produce flowers into the Autumn. If these Wildflowers are not cut down before the end of the growing season, they should reseed themselves naturally for the following year.

20g of this Wildflower seed will cover 10m2

50g of this Wildflower seed will cover 25m2

Cross contamination

Why is yarrow in this mix?

Thank you for sending the photo. The plant in the picture does resemble young yarrow.

If that is the case, it would not have come from the wildflower seed mix you purchased from us. Yarrow is a common perennial in many soils and its seeds can stay dormant for years, germinating when the soil is disturbed – such as when preparing a seedbed for wildflowers.

At present, we don’t stock yarrow seeds, so there is no possibility of it being included or cross-contaminated during packing. It’s most likely that the seeds were already present in the ground before you sowed your mix.
