Name: Celery: Tall Utah
Latin Name: Apium graveolens
Description: Celery tall Utah is a vegetable of which the stems and leaves can be eaten. It is rich in nutrients. Tall Utah produces nice, strong celery sticks. Celery seeds need sufficient light to germinate and cannot be sown too deep.
Sowing: February to May
Harvesting: June to October
How To Grow Stick Celery From Seed: Celery seeds do best when started indoors. Using seedling modules or small pots, sow a pinch of Celery seeds in each pot and barely cover with damp compost. Celery seeds need light to germinate so it is important the seeds are barely covered. Place the modules/pots near a window. Germination can take up to 3 weeks. Keep the soil moist during this time.
When the seedlings become established, thin them to leave the strongest one in each pot/cell. Transplant them out to their final spot when all risk of frost has passed and temperatures are reasonable.
Seed count is approximate.
