How To Grow Santa Anna Lettuce From Seed: Santa Anna can be started indoors in seedling modules or small pots, 2 to 4 weeks before the last frost date. Sow 2 seeds per pot/cell. When the seedlings establish, thin to leave only the strongest one in each cell/pot. Transplant outside to their final spot when risk of frost has passd.

Alternatively, sow directly when frost risk has passed. For a constant supply, sow successively every 3 weeks until 4 to 6 weeks before the average first Autumn frost date.

Harvest in the morning, by cutting off at ground level. If regrowth is desired, cut the leaves higher. Individual leaves can be harvested at any stage of maturity, but leave at least half of the plant for regrowth.
