June is a great month for sowing seeds. All frost risk has passed and temperatures are higher, giving great conditions for seed sowing.
Below is a list of seeds that can be sown in June. The list is not exhaustive as there are some varieties that are not on the list that can probably still be sown if we get a good Autumn.
Salad Leaves including all Lettuces, Rainbow Chard, Mustard, Rocket, Kale, Spinach etc. can be sown now for a quick crop.
Vegetables like Carrots, Beetroot, Radishes, Turnips, Spring Onions, Calabrese Broccoli, Cauliflower, Parsnips, Peas, Beans, Courgettes etc. can all be sown now for harvest this season.
Pumpkin, Squash and Cucumber can still be sown in early June, but they would need a good Autumn at this stage.
Winter cropping vegetables such as Kale, Purple Sprouting Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts etc. can be sown now for harvesting throughout the Winter when little else is in season.
Herb seeds such as Coriander, Chives, Basil etc. can still be sown now for harvest this year, there is an abundance of varieties to choose from.
Annual flowers such as Poppies, Nasturtiums, Calendula, Love-in-a-Mist, Zinnia, Borage, Pansies, Cornflowers etc. can be sown now to flower this year.
Perennial/Biennial flowers such as Aquilegia, Lupin, Foxgloves, Echinacea etc. can be sown now to flower early in the season next year.
